Other than alcohol and energy drinks, anyone have any sure fire ways to cope with the overwhelming pressures of last semester work? Just needin a little pick me up as this college life ive known for so long winds to an end! thanxx
I deal with stress by making time to do something I enjoy doing. For me personally, I love to run, so I always make time a couple days a week to go for a run. I would say exercise is the best to relieve stress.
I agree with Jon, I ride my bike when I am feeling a little over the top. The fresh air, exercise and concentration required do wonders to take my mind off deadlines and whatever else is burning in the back of my mind. Not so fun when it's raining or 100 degrees, though.
If I'm in the middle of a marathon work session and find myself at creative capacity/overwhelmed, I take a a break and color in a coloring book. Yes, seriously. The repetitive motion is calming and its something I don't need to think about..and who doesn't love the smell of new crayons?! After a few pages I am ready to go back to work and be productive. My Sesame Street coloring book saved my sanity last semester!
ah yes, the smell of new crayons.I have to confess. I have a new box of crayons at home that I have never touched because I just love to open it and smell.
I did a PMP not only for this class but for all of my classes. I am trying to follow my schedule as close as possible. I also feel that planning ahead of time is very important to keep track of what I already did and what I still have to work on. As this is my last semester as a student I decided I am going to work hard but I am also going to have fun doing things that have nothing to do with school! So I am trying to keep the balance between school and enjoying my last semester in Boston with my friends.
Kelly, When I read your comment about coloring I could relate to that a lot. I never thought of it as something I could do to calm myself but the more I think about it and the more I see myself doing it haha. Thanks for the idea!! I also recommend doing yoga or any kind of mediation because it helps to decrease your energy level.
I feel like the best way to deal with stress is to go do something else. For instance, I 'll go watch TV, cook or even take a shower when I feel stuck doing my projects.
But I think to know where the stress is from and how to deal with it is also very important. I know that I will be stressed out every time when I don't have enough time to finish somethings. To resolve that, I'll make plans before so that I have control of the use of my time , and hopefully I won't be so stressed.
Idle hands are the devil's workshop...stay active and busy. Find time to enjoy the day, amidst all the stress. Shambhala center has open house and under 30 meditations right on brookline ave. It's free and a great way to relax!
